New Delhi/Islamabad:
In an alarming escalation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, India reportedly launched a barrage of 100 precision-guided missiles, targeting key military installations across Pakistan-administered territories. The offensive marks one of the most significant military operations in the region since the 1971 war.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister held a high-level meeting with the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), reaffirming India’s commitment to national defence and territorial integrity. “India does not seek war but will not tolerate aggression,” the Prime Minister stated in a televised address to the nation.
According to senior Indian defence officials, the strikes were a “pre-emptive measure” against imminent threats emerging from across the border, citing intelligence reports on the mobilization of militant outfits with alleged state backing.
Pakistan has responded by placing major cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, under emergency lockdown. Military and civil authorities have issued stay-at-home orders, with airspace restrictions imposed and schools and government offices shut indefinitely.
In a dramatic development, Pakistani forces claimed to have captured two Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots whose aircraft were allegedly shot down during cross-border retaliatory strikes. While India has yet to officially confirm the loss, diplomatic channels have reportedly been activated to address the matter.
Global powers, including the United States, China, and the United Nations, have urged both nations to exercise restraint and de-escalate tensions. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an emergency Security Council meeting to discuss the growing crisis in South Asia.

Background of Tensions in between War
Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors have been simmering for weeks following a spate of cross-border ceasefire violations and alleged terror attacks in Indian-administered Kashmir. Diplomatic ties were already strained, and today’s developments have pushed both nations to the brink of full-scale war.
Humanitarian Concerns
The United Nations and international aid agencies have expressed concern over the humanitarian fallout, especially in border regions, where thousands have been displaced amid fears of escalation. Hospitals are on high alert, and emergency services have been deployed in both countries.
What’s Next in the Indo-Pak War?
Defence analysts warn that the coming days will be critical. Both sides are under immense domestic pressure, and international mediation may be the only viable path to de-escalation. However, with military assets on high alert and civilian populations already bearing the brunt, the situation remains volatile.
This is a developing story. More details to follow.
