MUMBAI: A violent altercation broke out at an Antop Hill school on Monday morning, leaving two Class 10 students injured after a dispute over seating arrangements during internal exams. The attack, which involved two minors from the same school, resulted in one student being stabbed in the stomach and another in the back.
The incident occurred at around 7 AM when students were gathered for their joint internal exams, which involved both English and Hindi medium students sitting together. Tensions flared when a disagreement arose over the seating arrangements, leading one of the accused, a 15-year-old student, to pull a knife from his bag. The student then attacked a peer from the English medium section, and when a classmate attempted to intervene, they too were injured.
The accused, both minors aged 15, were detained by the Antop Hill police. The school had made arrangements for Hindi medium students to attend the internal exams as external candidates, though they had not been previously enrolled at the school.
Both injured students were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have seized the knife used in the attack and registered a case for attempted murder against the two minors involved in the stabbing.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the school administration has expressed shock over the violent incident that marred what should have been an ordinary exam day.
