Agriculture Minister Reviews Development Projects in Vidisha and Raisen, Urges Tough measures Against Black Marketing and Greater Focus on Welfare: July 2025

Breaking News

Raisen – Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan conducted an extensive review of development projects and welfare initiatives during his visit to his parliamentary constituency Vidisha. A District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held in Raisen, focusing on implementation efficiency, accountability, and citizen-centric delivery of government schemes.

Strict Warning on Fake Fertilisers and Black Marketing

The Minister issued a stern directive against those involved in black marketing and sale of counterfeit fertilisers, terming such practices as a grave injustice and a sin against farmers. He called for strictest possible legal action and urged officials to intensify inspection efforts at procurement centres, particularly with respect to ‘moong’ (green gram) procurement.

“Selling fake fertiliser is a grave sin – take strict action against offenders,” Shri Chouhan asserted during the meeting.

Public Welfare Must Be the Central Focus

Calling upon district officials and public representatives, Shri Chouhan stressed the importance of working with dedication towards public welfare and holistic development. He urged for field-level monitoring, timely identification of eligible beneficiaries, and zero delays in construction and infrastructure projects.

Timely Implementation of PM Awas Yojana

While reviewing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (Awas Plus), the Minister instructed that all approved beneficiaries must receive their installments on time, and warned against any form of negligence in construction. For the fiscal year 2024–25, 27,981 houses have been sanctioned in Raisen district, out of which 4,825 are complete and 23,156 are under construction.

Empowering Rural Women: Rise of Lakhpati Didis

Under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, the district has made notable strides with 43,613 women now identified as Lakhpati Didis — rural women earning ₹1 lakh or more annually. Shri Chouhan encouraged further expansion of this programme and called for a concrete action plan to support women’s economic empowerment in every Gram Panchayat.

Connecting Villages: PM Gram Sadak Yojana

The Minister reviewed progress under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, directing officials to ensure that every village is connected to main roads. Out of 30 approved road projects (276.236 km) for 2024–25, 28 have already been completed, while 9 out of 13 sanctioned bridges are ready. The National Highways Authority of India’s contributions to connectivity in the region were also assessed.

Crop Health, International Markets, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras

Highlighting the importance of crop health and global agricultural standards, Shri Chouhan instructed agriculture officers to conduct regular field inspections, guiding farmers on proper pesticide usage. In light of Basmati rice from the region being rejected in international markets, he emphasized educating farmers against using internationally banned pesticides, and suggested leveraging Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) for effective technology transfer.

Water Security and Jal Jeevan Mission

In his review of the Water Resources Department, Shri Chouhan examined the status of ponds, reservoirs, and tap water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission, reiterating that every household must be connected to piped water supply. He instructed officials to expedite all pending water infrastructure projects and maintain strict timelines.

Energy Sector and Rural Electrification

Progress under the Energy Department, particularly concerning under-construction electricity substations, was also discussed. The Minister directed that all ongoing rural electrification and substation projects be completed promptly, ensuring reliable power supply for both households and agricultural operations.

Conclusion of Development Projects

The Union Minister concluded the DISHA meeting with a strong appeal to make Raisen a model district, through accountability, timely implementation, and citizen-focused governance. The session was marked by focused discussions on cross-sectoral themes, including deaddiction awareness, energy security, and rural development, aligning with the government’s vision of inclusive and sustainable growth.
