The footage showed Liri urging the Israeli government to take action for her release, sharpening global attention on the plight of over 99 hostages in captivity.
Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Gadot posted, “This is Liri, only 19 years old. She was abducted by Hamas on October 7. Yesterday, we received a sign of life from her—an agonizing reminder of the 450 days she and others have been held in Hamas tunnels.” The actress accompanied her post with a photo of Liri and a collage of other hostages, captioned “Bring them home now.”
While preparing to attend the Golden Globe Awards, Gadot expressed the emotional conflict she feels during moments of joy. “My heart is heavy, and my soul aches knowing the hostages are still there. Every passing day without action endangers their lives further,” she wrote, urging world leaders and decision-makers to secure their safe return.
The video, released by Hamas, features Liri speaking in Hebrew, appealing for immediate action from the Israeli government. However, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, a campaign group advocating for their release, stated that Liri’s family did not authorize the publication of the video.
In a statement, her family implored Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and international leaders to act decisively. “It’s time to make decisions as if these were your own children,” the family urged.
