Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has welcomed the farmer-friendly decisions taken at the first Union Cabinet meeting of 2025, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Saini expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, stating that these thoughtful decisions will benefit lakhs of farmers in Haryana.
The Chief Minister referred to the Union Cabinet’s announcements as a “New Year gift” for farmers from Modi. The key decisions include ensuring the availability of DAP fertiliser to farmers at affordable and subsidised rates. To achieve this, the Union Cabinet approved a proposal to increase the one-time special package on DAP beyond the NBS subsidy.
Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme have been approved to continue till 2025-26. This move aims to promote technology and provide financial support to farmers. The total outlay for these schemes is Rs 69,515.71 crore.
Saini praised the Prime Minister’s efforts to support farmers, saying that these decisions demonstrate the government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers. The Chief Minister is confident that these initiatives will bring relief and prosperity to the farming community in Haryana.
