The state’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested Kerala businessman and jewelry chain owner Boby Chemmanur after actress Honey Rose accused him of sexual harassment. The SIT took Chemmanur into custody from Wayanad on Wednesday following Rose’s complaint, in which she claims that Chemmanur made repeated inappropriate remarks towards her.
The actress’s allegations on social media have led to the filing of the case under non-bailable sections. In a Facebook post on Sunday, Honey Rose accused an unnamed individual of stalking her and making sexually inappropriate comments through media platforms. This led to a police complaint against 30 people, resulting in one arrest. However, the situation escalated further, prompting the actress to publicly name Chemmanur on Tuesday.
Rose, a prominent South Indian actor, stated in her post that Chemmanur had repeatedly made derogatory remarks about her, and she filed a formal complaint with the Ernakulam Central Police Station. She emphasized her faith in the Indian legal system, despite Chemmanur’s wealth and influence.
Chemmanur, known for his philanthropic work and as the owner of a jewelry brand in Kerala, has denied the allegations, insisting that he did not make the remarks as claimed. He mentioned that Rose had attended two of his events without expressing any discomfort at the time.
The case continues to develop, and the legal proceedings will determine the outcome of these serious allegations.
