MCD Introduces Comprehensive House Tax Waiver Scheme for Delhi Residents

Delhi homeowners to benefit from tax exemptions upon clearing 2024-25 dues

Breaking News

NEW DELHI: In a significant move to provide relief to property owners, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has unveiled a house tax waiver scheme. Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh, announced that residents who settle their house tax dues for the fiscal year 2024-25 will have all previous outstanding taxes waived.

The scheme offers varying benefits based on property size:

  • Properties under 100 square yards: Full exemption from house tax.
  • Properties between 100 and 500 square yards: 50% reduction in tax liability.

Additionally, commercial properties located in rehabilitation areas are eligible for tax exemptions. Residents of 1,300 housing apartments, previously excluded from such concessions, will now receive a 25% tax reduction.

This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on Delhi’s property owners and encourage timely tax payments. The MCD has also emphasized the importance of online Property Tax Return (PTR) filings. Starting April 1, 2025, property tax payments will only be accepted if accompanied by an online PTR submission, streamlining the process and enhancing transparency.

For more details and to access the online PTR filing system, residents are encouraged to visit the official MCD website.
