Breaking News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated a crucial 13-km stretch of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, linking Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. This marks a significant step in the expansion of the RRTS network, which will drastically reduce travel time between the two cities.

PM Modi took a ride on one of the Namo Bharat trains from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar, interacting with passengers and children on board. The newly inaugurated section is part of the larger 82-km Namo Bharat RRTS corridor, which extends from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut. The complete corridor includes 16 Namo Bharat stations, including key interchanges with Delhi Metro lines.

The 55-km section from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, which features 11 stations, is now operational, with trains running every 15 minutes starting at 5 pm. A journey from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South will take just under 40 minutes, significantly cutting down travel time. Fares for the journey range from ₹150 for the standard coach to ₹225 for the premium coach.

Notably, the new section includes a 6-km underground stretch and features the Anand Vihar station, a major transit hub that connects the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Pink Lines, along with a railway station and bus terminal.

With the launch of this RRTS section, commuters can now enjoy faster, more efficient travel between Delhi and Meerut, enhancing regional connectivity and boosting economic growth in the region.
