PM Modi Lauds Mahakumbh 2025 as Spiritual Milestone, Inaugurates ₹5,500 Crore Development Projects in Prayagraj

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday to extend his best wishes for the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025, highlighting the event’s potential to elevate India’s cultural and spiritual identity on the global stage. Speaking about the significance of the gathering, Modi emphasized that the Mahakumbh will bring together millions from all over the country, each contributing their own faiths and beliefs, united at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers at Sangam.

Describing the Mahakumbh as a “divine festival of faith, spirituality, and culture,” PM Modi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be in Prayagraj, a city he has visited multiple times, including taking a holy dip in the Sangam in 2019. He also acknowledged the blessings of the city and its people.

In addition to his spiritual remarks, Modi launched a series of development projects worth ₹5,500 crore aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and facilities in preparation for the Mahakumbh. These initiatives are intended to enhance amenities for the millions of devotees who will converge in Prayagraj in January and February 2025.

The Prime Minister, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, participated in a ceremonial puja at the Sangam and took a river cruise. Modi further stated that Mahakumbh 2025 would serve as a global “yagna” of unity, making a lasting impact on the world.
