In his first-ever podcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened up about his childhood, political journey, and personal beliefs. Hosted by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, the two-hour long podcast, released on YouTube, touched on various topics, from PM Modi’s early life in Gujarat to his thoughts on governance, global issues, and youth engagement in politics.
One of the most interesting revelations came when Modi shared how he learned Hindi. According to the Prime Minister, his initial exposure to the language came while selling tea at a railway station in Mehsana, Gujarat. He recalled interacting with dairy farmers from Uttar Pradesh, who frequented the area for business. “Around 30-40 of them were always present on the platform, and through conversations with them, I gradually learned Hindi,” Modi explained.
The podcast also delved into Modi’s time as Gujarat’s Chief Minister. He reminisced about his speech when he first assumed office, where he committed to working hard, acknowledging that while mistakes are inevitable, his actions would always be guided by good intentions. “I am human and can make mistakes, but I will never do anything wrong with bad intentions,” he stated.
Reflecting on personal moments, Modi shared a touching memory from his tenure as CM. He had wished to invite his old school friends to his official residence but found the experience bittersweet. “I was trying to find my friends in them, while they were seeing me as the chief minister,” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of integrity in politics, Modi urged good, mission-driven individuals to enter the political arena, advising that ambition should not be the primary motive.
As the podcast was shared on social media, Modi expressed his excitement, saying, “I hope you all enjoy this as much as we enjoyed creating it for you!”
