Saif Ali Khan has provided a chilling recount of the stabbing incident at his Bandra residence on January 16, 2025. In his statement recorded by Bandra Police, the actor detailed his confrontation with the intruder and the harrowing moments of the attack that left him injured and shaken.
The Violent Confrontation
According to Saif Ali Khan’s statement, the intruder, identified as Shariful Fakir, 30, attacked him with a knife after Khan attempted to overpower him. The actor described how his grip on the attacker loosened after being stabbed repeatedly in the back.
“My grip loosened after the stranger stabbed me repeatedly on my back with a knife after I overpowered him,” Khan recounted, as reported by Times of India.
Khan further explained that he rushed to defend his family and staff when he heard a scream from his staff nurse, Eliyamma Phillip, who was with his younger son, Jehangir. The actor immediately ran out of the bedroom to find the stranger attacking Phillip and then charged at him to protect his loved ones. However, the intruder managed to stab Khan in the process before fleeing.
The Intruder’s Demands and Escape
After the attack, Saif Ali Khan was informed by Phillip that the intruder had demanded ₹1 crore. Despite the grave nature of the situation, Khan’s sons, Ibrahim and Taimur, acted swiftly and transported him to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
Police revealed that after the assault, the suspect discarded a white bag containing various tools and a broken knife piece near Bandra Talao, and fingerprints were found on various surfaces inside the flat, including the duct pipe, door handle, and bathroom door. The police investigation confirmed that Shariful Fakir’s fingerprints matched those found at multiple locations inside the actor’s home.
Intruder’s Route and Crime Scene Reconstruction
The police conducted a crime scene reconstruction on Wednesday, where Shariful Fakir detailed his method of entry into the apartment. He explained that he scaled a 4-foot wall, climbed a ladder to access the duct, and cut through a rat mesh to enter the building. From there, he used the stairs to reach the 10th floor, crawled through the duct to enter the bathroom on the 11th floor, where he launched the attack. He then retraced his steps to escape.
Investigation and Official Statements
The Bandra Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, with officials confirming that Shariful Fakir was the main suspect, and his connection to the crime scene is being fully examined. In the wake of the attack, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed his condolences, and Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on January 21, five days after the incident.
