Mumbai: Saif Ali Khan, the Bollywood actor who was recently attacked at his Bandra residence, was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday after five days of treatment. Following his discharge, the actor returned home with significant police security. He greeted his fans and the media as he made his way back, waving and smiling despite the ordeal.
Saif Ali Khan’s Statement to Mumbai Police
The following day, Mumbai Police visited Saif’s residence to record his statement about the attack. The actor had been targeted by Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, who entered the house with the intent to steal. Upon Saif’s intervention, a violent confrontation ensued, resulting in stab wounds to the actor’s thoracic spine. Saif was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Ronit Roy’s Role in Security Arrangements
Actor Ronit Roy, known for his roles in both TV and films, was seen accompanying Saif as he returned home. Roy was also observed coordinating with police officials and overseeing security arrangements at Saif and Kareena Kapoor’s home. It was later confirmed that Saif has hired Roy’s security firm, Ace Security and Protection, to provide additional safety following the attack.

The attack occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 2-3 a.m. Rana, an auto-rickshaw driver, recounted the incident to ANI, explaining how he helped Saif reach the hospital. According to Rana, he noticed a woman trying to hire an auto, but when no one stopped, he turned his vehicle around and found Saif bleeding from his neck and back. He then rushed him to Lilavati Hospital.
Investigation and Arrest of the Accused
Mumbai Police quickly launched an investigation and registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The accused, Shehzad, was arrested in Thane at Hiranandani Estate while attempting to flee to his native Bangladesh. Shehzad hails from the Jhalokati district in Bangladesh.

In the wake of the traumatic incident, Saif’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, addressed the situation on Instagram, expressing the family’s emotional distress.
