Trinamool Congress (TMC) councillor Dulal Sarkar, affectionately known as Babla, was tragically shot dead in Malda district, West Bengal, on Thursday morning. Unidentified assailants on motorcycles approached him at Jhaljhalia More area and fired multiple shots at close range, striking him in the head. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Sarkar succumbed to his injuries.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed profound shock and sadness over the incident. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), she described Sarkar as a close associate and a popular leader who had dedicated himself to the TMC since its inception. She extended her condolences to his wife, Chaitali Sarkar, and wished her strength during this challenging time.
