Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kharghar on January 15, traffic police have announced significant road closures and diversions to ensure smooth movement during the inauguration of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple at Sector 23.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Tirupati Kakade, stated that certain roads will be closed to general traffic, and designated ‘No Parking’ zones will be enforced around the event venue. These measures are aimed at managing the flow of VIP vehicles, police cars, emergency services, and event attendees.
Restricted Routes: The following roads will be restricted for regular traffic:
- The stretch from Ove Gaon Police Chowki to J. Kumar Circle.
- The road from Gurudwara Chowk to J. Kumar Circle via B.D. Somani School.
- The road between Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 2 of the ISKCON temple.
Alternate Routes: The traffic department has advised commuters to use the following alternate routes:
- Vehicles traveling from Prashant Corner to Ove Gaon Police Chowki and from Ove Gaon Chowk to J. Kumar Circle can take a right turn at Prashant Corner.
- Those traveling from Shilp Chowk to J. Kumar Circle or Ove Gaon Police Chowki can turn right or left at Green Heritage Chowk.
- Vehicles coming from Gramvikas Bhavan via Green Heritage Chowk can proceed towards J. Kumar Circle or Ove Gaon Police Chowki via B.D. Somani School.
- From Central Park Metro Station, vehicles can turn right at Gramvikas Bhavan to reach J. Kumar Circle or Ove Gaon Police Chowki.
No Parking Zones: To manage congestion, several areas will be designated as No Parking zones:
- Hiranandani Bridge Junction to Utsav Chowk, Gramvikas Bhavan, Gurudwara, Ove Gaon Chowk, and Ove Gaon Police Chowki.
- Ove Gaon Police Chowki to Ove Cricket Ground, Corporate Central Park, Bhagwati Green Cut, and ISKCON Temple Gate No. 1.
- Gramvikas Bhavan to Green Heritage and Central Park Metro Station.
Emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars will be exempt from these restrictions. Authorities have urged citizens to follow the traffic guidelines and cooperate with the diversions to ensure minimal disruption.
