BENGALURU: While Bollywood songs have made playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy a household name, it’s her involvement in the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival that has been pivotal in expanding her artistic horizons. For years, Krishnamurthy has performed at the festival alongside her violin virtuoso husband, L Subramaniam, and their children, Bindu and Ambi Subramaniam. This year’s festival, however, promises an exciting addition with the participation of Muhammad Yildirir, renowned as the world’s fastest violinist.

Although the Guinness World Records once held a title for the fastest violinist, it was retired after technical challenges with the category. The record was previously held by British violinist Ben Lee, who performed a famous segment from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee in 58.515 seconds. However, in a remarkable feat nearly a decade ago, Turkish violinist Yildirir performed the same interlude in just 37.84 seconds, setting a new unofficial benchmark that has since garnered global recognition.

This year’s Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, taking place on January 4 in Bengaluru, will see Yildirir in conversation with L Subramaniam, where the two musical legends are expected to discuss their shared passion for violin music. Yildirir’s extraordinary speed and technical prowess will surely captivate audiences, making this festival a memorable event for music lovers.

Krishnamurthy, Subramaniam, and their children are looking forward to this year’s performance, while the festival promises a unique blend of classical and innovative musical artistry.
