A mysterious explosion outside the Gumtala Police Station in Amritsar on the evening of January 9 has sparked an investigation by local authorities. The incident occurred around 8 pm when ASI Harjinder Singh, the in-charge officer of the police station, was engaged in public dealings.

According to ACP West Amritsar, Shiv Darshan Singh, ASI Singh heard a loud explosion and immediately rushed outside to investigate. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the coolant from ASI Tajinder Singh’s car had leaked, leading to a radiator blast.

A mechanic was called to inspect the vehicle, and it was confirmed that the explosion was caused by a radiator malfunction. No individuals have come forward to claim responsibility for the incident, and police officials assured that the investigation is ongoing. ACP Singh stated that the police are looking into the matter closely to rule out any potential links to larger security concerns.

The arrested suspects had been in contact with smugglers based in Pakistan, who used drones to transport drugs across the India-Pakistan border. Authorities seized 5 kg of heroin and registered an FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Chheharta police station in Amritsar. Investigations are continuing as police work to trace both the forward and backward linkages of the cartel.
