  • Rangeen Review Shocker: 1 Bold Idea That Couldn’t Save the Series

Rangeen Review Shocker: 1 Bold Idea That Couldn’t Save the Series

Rangeen Review: Bold Setup Fails to Deliver the Expected Drama

Rangeen review begins with a punchy, brave storyline that promises to challenge the norms of Indian web content. The show opens with Adarsh Johri, played by Viineet Kumar Siingh, a middle-aged newspaper editor in a small town, whose peaceful life takes a bizarre turn when he discovers his wife cheating on him with a gigolo. What follows is his decision to turn into a gigolo himself a revenge arc that screams fresh and provocative. However, despite the originality, the show ends up meandering and fails to hit the emotional or dramatic notes it aims for.Rangeen Review: A bold, bizarre, and brilliant midlife crisis

Rangeen Review: A Visually Lush Yet Confused Narrative

Rangeen review: Viineet Kumar Siingh film gigolo drama fails in execution - India Today

The Rangeen review gets interesting as it dives into Adarsh’s transformation. Initially, the premise brings curiosity and entertainment a wronged husband seeking closure through an unusual route. Adarsh infiltrates the gigolo business under the mentorship of Sunny (played by Taaruk Raina) and Sitara (Sheeba Chaddha), who runs the operation from behind her boutique.

The tone, unfortunately, is inconsistent. The narrative shifts from dark comedy to emotional drama to commentary on small-town judgement, without ever settling on one. These constant tonal shifts dilute the impact of serious themes like masculinity, betrayal, and rediscovery. A story that could have been both humorous and introspective ends up feeling confused and surface-level.

    Mixed Performances and Underused Talent

Viineet Kumar Siingh is a capable actor, but here, he feels restricted by a poorly written character arc. His portrayal of Adarsh, a man broken by betrayal, trying to reclaim his self-worth, never fully resonates. His emotional moments lack subtlety, and his shift from a frustrated husband to a self-styled gigolo never seems organic.

Rajshri Deshpande as Naina brings sincerity but is severely underutilized. Her character’s motivations are barely explored, making her feel more like a plot device than a person. She has a few impactful moments, especially when she confronts Adarsh, but they are too fleeting to make a difference.

Taaruk Raina as Sunny adds some much-needed energy. His portrayal of a charming and confident gigolo stands out in an otherwise uneven cast. Meanwhile, Sheeba Chaddha, in her role as Sitara, manages to ground her character with quiet authority and provides a sense of realism that the lead often lacks.

    Technical Execution and Pacing Issues

The series struggles with pacing from the fourth episode onward. At nine episodes, each over 40 minutes, Rangeen feels stretched. Unnecessary subplots and repeated emotional confrontations drag the momentum. The editing doesn’t help; tighter cuts could have improved engagement significantly.

A post shared by HT Lifestyle (@htlifestyle)

Visually, the show opts for a dim, often dull tone that matches its confused emotional space but isn’t always easy on the eyes. Background music, while intended to enhance scenes, often becomes distracting and overwhelming, sometimes even drowning out important dialogues.

    A Story of Missed Potential

What began as a daring dive into taboo themes and personal reinvention ends up becoming a victim of its own ambition. The central idea of a man reclaiming power in an unconventional way should have opened the door to powerful storytelling, layered with humour, sorrow, and social commentary. Instead, the script doesn’t go deep enough.

There are glimpses of brilliance an emotional breakdown in a hotel, a stark confrontation between husband and wife but these are fleeting. The rest is weighed down by half-baked storylines and characters that never really develop. Also Read: Mamata Banerjee Urges Industry to Promote Bengali in Films and TV Serials

    Final Verdict on Rangeen

In conclusion, Rangeen is a series that had the courage to bring something new to Indian screens but couldn’t carry that courage all the way through. The show lacks consistency, clarity, and depth, despite a strong concept and decent performances from the supporting cast. Rangeen review highlights one big truth: bold ideas alone aren’t enough without a compelling execution. This series may find an audience curious about its theme, but those seeking layered storytelling and emotional impact may walk away disappointed.

From casting couch incidents to being judged for her personal choices, Kalki’s words highlight the resilience it takes to stay true to oneself in a judgmental society.

    Kalki Koechlin

Kalki Koechlin’s candid confessions shake up stereotypes

Kalki Koechlin recalled her early days when she was not yet an actor. While working as a student at the Cannes Film Festival, she encountered a disturbing situation. A known Indian producer, who had a connection with her family, approached her under the pretense of helping her with work. However, it quickly turned into a proposition with inappropriate demands. This early experience exposed her to the kind of power dynamics young women often face before even entering the industry.Kalki Koechlin reveals how she met boyfriend Guy Hershberg in new post

After stepping into Bollywood, the challenges didn’t fade. During an audition for a high-profile film, another producer hinted at similar expectations. Kalki shared how he suggested getting to know her better over dinner, implying that personal favors were a requirement for professional opportunities. She walked away from the project, deciding not to compromise her values, even if it meant losing a career-defining role.

Apart from these unsettling encounters, Kalki Koechlin also talked about her personal life. When she got pregnant without being married, people around her reacted with outdated judgment. She called out society’s hypocrisy, stating how terms like “out of wedlock” sound more like 18th-century vocabulary than something relevant today. Living with her partner, Israeli musician Guy Hershberg, she found herself defending a very normal part of life starting a family.

Kalki’s words reflected frustration with the false societal image people are often forced to maintain. She spoke candidly about how natural relationships and pregnancies are still scandalized in many parts of Indian society, despite its enormous population. According to her, we live in a culture that publicly pretends these things don’t happen while privately accepting them.Kalki Koechlin says she likes being tagged as 'unconventional' | Hollywood News – India TV

Through all this, Kalki Koechlin has stood firm in her beliefs. She doesn’t shy away from calling out the double standards, whether in the film industry or in personal life. Her journey shows how courage and self-respect can make a powerful statement, even when societal norms try to suppress individuality.

On the professional front, Kalki continues to take on roles that are bold and unique. After her performance in the Tamil romantic-action movie Nesippaya, she is set to appear in the upcoming English-language film Emma and Angel. The film follows the story of a speech-impaired writer trapped under earthquake debris, with only her dog to rely on. The narrative promises emotion, survival, and connection, much like Kalki’s real-life stories. Also Read: WWE Raw Deal: Intense Showdowns and Surprises Heat Up the Road to SummerSlam 2025

Akshay Kumar Insures Over 650 Stunt Professionals in Wake of SM Raju’s On-Set Death, Sets New Industry Safety Benchmark

Akshay Kumar Takes Decisive Action Following Fatal Stunt Accident That Shocked the Film Industry

After the untimely death of veteran stuntman SM Raju during the filming of Vettuvam, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has introduced a wide-ranging insurance plan to protect India’s stunt professionals. The new initiative covers over 650 action crew members, offering both health and accident insurance. The program aims to safeguard these high-risk performers who are often overlooked when it comes to health benefits and workplace protection.

The tragic incident, captured on video and widely circulated online, has intensified concerns regarding the safety protocols followed on film sets across the country. In response, Akshay Kumar insures stunt professionals not only with financial coverage but also by bringing attention to an issue long neglected by the Indian film industry.

Insurance Plan Covers Both On-Set and Off-Set Accidents for Action Crew Members Across the Country

The insurance initiative launched by Akshay Kumar provides comprehensive medical coverage of up to ₹5–5.5 lakh for stunt professionals injured either on set or off set. This means that even non-filming injuries are covered, an important feature given the demanding physical lifestyles of these workers. In fatal cases, the plan offers a life insurance payout between ₹20–25 lakh to the nominee of the deceased.

Veteran stunt coordinator Vikram Singh Dahiya, who has worked on projects like Gunjan Saxena, Antim, OMG 2, and the upcoming Dhadak 2, praised the actor’s efforts. He confirmed that close to 700 members of the action crew now benefit from this much-needed safety net.

“This initiative by Akshay sir is not only a financial relief but also emotional support for thousands of families who rely on this profession,” Dahiya noted. “It sends a message that their lives matter.”

    SM Raju on ‘Vettuvam’

The Tragic Death of SM Raju on ‘Vettuvam’ Set Highlighted the Urgent Need for Industry-Wide Reforms

The catalyst for this insurance initiative was the tragic death of SM Raju, a veteran stunt artist with decades of experience. The fatal accident occurred on July 13 during the shoot of Pa Ranjith’s Tamil film Vettuvam, featuring actor Arya. The stunt involved a high-speed car flip that went disastrously wrong when the vehicle lost control, flipped multiple times in the air, and landed headfirst.

Despite immediate rescue attempts, Raju succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The horrifying footage from the shoot sparked national outrage and triggered demands for accountability, not only from the public but also from prominent industry figures such as Baahubali stunt coordinator Lee Whittaker and music composer Vishal.

Akshay Kumar’s Initiative Builds on a Long-Standing Commitment to Protect India’s Stunt Community

This is not the first time Akshay Kumar insures stunt professionals or has stepped forward to address industry safety issues. In 2017, the actor partnered with the Movie Stunt Artistes Association to provide insurance to nearly 380 stunt artists aged 18–55. That plan offered ₹6 lakh in medical coverage and ₹10 lakh in life insurance.

Building on that foundation, Kumar has now extended the initiative to cover nearly double the number of individuals. Importantly, he continues to fund the premium costs out of his own pocket. General Secretary Aejaz Khan of the Stunt Artists Association confirmed this, stating, “He doesn’t just talk about change—he puts his money where his mouth is.”

Akshay Kumar’s long-standing relationship with the stunt community is rooted in his own background as a trained martial artist and action hero, making his involvement both personal and impactful.

    SM Raju on ‘Vettuvam’

Industry Veterans Call for More Comprehensive Measures Beyond Akshay’s Personal Intervention

While Akshay Kumar insures stunt professionals through his private initiative, industry insiders argue that broader, systemic changes are essential to prevent future tragedies. Experts suggest that safety training, standardised stunt procedures, and legal oversight should be made mandatory by film regulatory bodies.

Calls have also emerged for including other action-related workers such as riggers, drivers, VFX coordinators, and junior stunt doubles under similar insurance schemes. “We must institutionalise safety. It can’t depend on one actor’s goodwill,” said a veteran action director who preferred to remain anonymous.

Akshay’s action, while commendable, may now force production houses and state bodies to rethink their obligations toward behind-the-scenes heroes.

New Safety Protocols and Technologies Suggested to Prevent Future Fatalities on Indian Film Sets

Following the fatal accident involving SM Raju, many experts have advocated the use of safer technologies. These include remote-controlled stunt vehicles, digital simulations, crash dummies, and pre-recorded sequences to avoid life-threatening risks.

Lee Whittaker, known for his work in Baahubali, said, “This kind of stunt should never be performed without full automation. Lives should not be risked for a shot.” Although director Pa Ranjith stated that all required safety protocols had been followed during Raju’s shoot, critics argue that even approved safety standards often fail under real-world conditions.

The incident has reignited the conversation about how India can align with international standards of stunt safety observed in Hollywood and South Korean cinema.

    Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar’s Insurance Initiative Marks a Turning Point for Stunt Safety in Indian Cinema

At a time when the Indian film industry is under increasing scrutiny for workplace safety, Akshay Kumar insures stunt professionals not as a symbolic gesture but as a real, measurable intervention. This program provides both health and financial security to a vulnerable section of film workers, giving them the peace of mind to do their jobs without fear.

While the government and industry at large are still slow to act, Akshay Kumar’s decisive move has set a benchmark. It is now up to other industry leaders and regulatory bodies to build upon it and ensure that no more lives are lost due to preventable safety oversights.

A Hero On and Off Screen, Akshay Kumar Champions Those Who Risk It All for Entertainment

The tragic loss of SM Raju has shaken the foundation of India’s film production safety standards. But it has also inspired meaningful change. Akshay Kumar’s swift and substantial action ensures that hundreds of stunt professionals will no longer go uninsured or unsupported.

By providing comprehensive insurance to the people who make movie magic happen, Kumar has not only honoured the memory of SM Raju but also raised the bar for what it means to be a responsible and humane film star in today’s India.

Shillong Police Bazar Hawkers to Be Relocated Under Court Supervision

Shillong Police Bazar Hawkers to Be Relocated: In a pivotal ruling impacting urban planning and informal trade in Meghalaya, the High Court has approved the relocation of hawkers from the busy commercial zone of Police Bazar in Shillong. The decision, administered under court supervision, aims to decongest public spaces while safeguarding the livelihoods of certified street vendors.

The process is being executed with legal oversight and administrative coordination, marking a significant attempt to balance city modernization with socio-economic rights.

Shillong Police Bazar Hawkers to Be Relocated

Background: Orderly Transition Amid Urban Congestion

For decades, Police Bazar has served as Shillong’s bustling commercial nucleus. With its dense footfall, tourism flow, and centrality, the area became saturated with unregulated hawking, leading to traffic bottlenecks, blocked pavements, and pedestrian safety concerns.

The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) and the East Khasi Hills District Administration initiated a phased plan to decongest the area. This action followed multiple complaints by residents, shop owners, and transport operators.

In response to a public interest petition, the Meghalaya High Court intervened to ensure that any such relocation plan was lawful, inclusive, and constitutionally sound.

Shillong Police Bazar Hawkers to Be Relocated

    High Court’s Intervention

On July 3, the High Court appointed Senior Advocate Subhasis Chakraborty as a special officer to supervise the entire relocation process. His appointment was instrumental in initiating negotiations between hawker associations, urban development officials, and the administration.

In a stakeholder meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, attended by officials from the Shillong Municipal Board, members of the Provisional Town Vending Committee (PTVC), and representatives of the Meghalaya and Greater Shillong Progressive Hawkers and Street Vendors Association, a consensus was reached regarding the relocation schedule, area zoning, and vendor certification.

    Relocation Guidelines and Timings

The relocation process includes strict time-bound access to Police Bazar for certified hawkers:

    • Permitted vending hours:
      • Afternoon: 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM
      • Evening: 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM

These limited hours will apply only to certified hawkers, allowing them temporary access during the transition. No vending will be allowed outside these periods, and only vendors listed in the final certification roster will be permitted.

Unlicensed vendors will be barred from operating in Police Bazar and directed toward newly allocated vending zones.

    Vendor Certification and Regulation

To enforce fairness and legal structure:

    • All hawkers must be surveyed and certified by the municipal board and included in an officially published list.
    • The Town Vending Committee will finalize certifications and issue formal identification.
    • The district administration has committed to setting up a grievance redressal process for vendors who believe they were excluded unjustly.

This initiative draws from provisions of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, which mandates vendor rights while ensuring public space usage aligns with urban planning.

    Designated Relocation Zones

The SMB and district administration have identified multiple sites for relocating hawkers:

    • MUDA Commercial Complex – proposed as a primary structured vending zone.
    • Secondary vending zones across Shillong – to be designated for hawkers based on certification and proximity.

These zones will be equipped with proper facilities, including water access, waste bins, street lighting, and security. The aim is to create a hygienic and sustainable environment for informal traders while restoring order in Police Bazar.

    Government and Administrative Response

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Affairs Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar confirmed that relocation efforts are part of a broader city development and decongestion strategy. He emphasized that the intention was not to evict hawkers but to organize them within a legal framework that benefits both city residents and vendors.

The government is also investing in public infrastructure, such as:

    • New multi-level parking facilities at Secretariat and Motphran
    • Improvements in pedestrian access in central commercial zones
    • Implementation of the ₹200+ crore Police Bazar Urban Upgrade Plan, which includes open public spaces, LED street lights, and safer walking corridors

    Hawkers’ Concerns and Legal Action

While authorities assure a smooth transition, not all stakeholders are satisfied. Members of the Greater Shillong Progressive Hawkers and Street Vendors Association have alleged that recent evictions were carried out without prior notice or legal backing. In several cases, hawkers claimed their merchandise was confiscated or damaged, and FIRs were filed against the municipal board.

Representatives argue that the certification process lacks transparency and that the plan still needs provisions for compensating those removed without relocation options.

Angela Rangad, a prominent voice among the hawkers, stated:

“We are not against regulation. But relocation should be consultative, not coercive. Hawkers are part of the city, not outsiders to be displaced.”

Looking Ahead: Balancing Urban Growth and Rights

This court-monitored relocation marks a rare example of a state attempting to manage informal trade through both legal structure and infrastructure development. If successfully implemented, it may serve as a model for other Indian cities dealing with similar challenges.

The key pillars for sustainable success include:

    1. Vendor inclusion: Transparent certification, inclusive planning, and fair zone allocation
    2. Civic design: Infrastructure investment that accommodates both formal and informal economies
    3. Legal safeguards: Protection of livelihood rights under the Street Vendors Act
    4. Community engagement: Open dialogue between the administration and trade groups

The Shillong Municipal Board, in cooperation with the East Khasi Hills administration and the High Court’s designated officer, is now tasked with ensuring that implementation reflects the court’s vision: a regulated, inclusive, and humane transition for thousands of families dependent on hawking for survival.

The Fierce Shift: Rohit Saraf Steps Out of His Comfort Zone in ‘The Revolutionaries’

Rohit Saraf Drops the Soft-Boy Image for a Powerful Role in ‘The Revolutionaries’

Rohit Saraf has long been adored for his gentle, endearing charm. With roles in Mismatched, The Sky is Pink, and Ludo, he has built a career playing characters who are sensitive, sweet, and often considered the ideal boyfriend. His on-screen presence exudes warmth and sincerity, which has earned him a loyal fan base, especially among young audiences. But now, with the upcoming series The Revolutionaries, Saraf is stepping into new territory one that demands grit, fire, and transformation.Rohit Saraf sheds his 'good boy' image for freedom fighter role in 'The Revolutionaries' - The Statesman

A Dramatic Career Turn for Rohit Saraf That Signals a Bold New Direction

In this Prime Video original, based on Sanjeev Sanyal’s book Revolutionaries: The Other Story Of How India Won Its Freedom, Rohit Saraf takes on the role of a young Indian freedom fighter. The teaser suggests a significant departure from his earlier work. Dressed in khadi, with intense expressions and a heavy air of seriousness, he appears ready to leave behind the soft-boy image and enter a more complex and layered phase of his career.

The 56-second teaser doesn’t reveal too much, but it does give a strong glimpse of Saraf’s potential in this intense new avatar. Set against the backdrop of India’s fight for independence, The Revolutionaries also features Pratibha Ranta, Bhuvan Bam, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Jason Shah. Yet, all eyes seem to be on Saraf, who looks almost unrecognizable a man weighed down by rebellion, not romance.Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf Star in Prime's The Revolutionaries Series

There’s a quiet urgency in his body language. His character seems conflicted, fierce, and rooted in something far heavier than youthful heartbreak. This pivot isn’t just a role change; it’s a conscious career decision. Rohit Saraf is clearly attempting to shift public perception to move away from the lover-boy lane and toward roles that demand seriousness, stillness, and emotional depth. At 28, Saraf is at the perfect point for reinvention. Like many young actors who start out playing light, romantic leads, there comes a time when image evolution becomes crucial. Comparisons have already begun with Shahid Kapoor’s transition from Ishq Vishk to Haider. Kapoor too had to break out of his teen heartthrob zone before audiences took him seriously. Saraf could be preparing to walk a similar path and this series might just be his Kaminey moment.

Rohit Saraf Channels Intensity and Rebellion in His Most Serious Role Yet

There is risk in change, but also reward. Taking on a role set in India’s revolutionary past is not easy. It requires emotional weight and historical awareness. And while it’s too soon to know how well he performs in the full series, the teaser already hints at the potential for a breakout. This is not a typical casting decision. This is calculated reinvention.

It’s refreshing to see an actor like Rohit Saraf push his limits instead of staying within the safety net of romantic dramas and campus love stories. The teaser paints a picture of intensity and purpose an energy we haven’t seen from him before. While the rest of the details about The Revolutionaries are still under wraps, what we know so far is enough to generate excitement about his evolution as an actor.

Currently in production across cities like Mumbai, Amritsar, Varanasi, and Dehradun, The Revolutionaries is slated for a 2026 release on Prime Video. With a strong cast, a powerful historical base, and the promise of emotional depth, the series is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious projects of the coming year.

    Conclusion

Rohit Saraf appears ready to leave behind the labels that once defined him. With The Revolutionaries, he’s stepping into something raw, mature, and powerful. Whether this becomes a turning point in his career remains to be seen but it’s clear he’s not playing it safe anymore. This is a new chapter, and perhaps the most exciting one yet.
