Mumbai: Actor Shreyas Talpade, renowned for his roles in films like “Iqbal” and the “Golmaal” series, takes on the role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the upcoming film “Emergency.” Directed by Kangana Ranaut, who also stars as Indira Gandhi, the movie delves into the 21-month period of emergency rule in India from 1975 to 1977.
Talpade, born in 1976, reflects on the significance of this era, stating, “The story of ‘Emergency’ is one that needs to be told to those who lived through the dark chapter of Indian history as well as the new generation.” He emphasizes the importance of educating both older and younger audiences about this pivotal time in India’s political landscape.
The film features a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik. It aims to provide a comprehensive portrayal of the events and political dynamics of the emergency period.
