Kolkata: Renowned filmmaker Aparna Sen was conferred with the prestigious ‘Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the annual ceremony of the West Bengal Film Journalists Association (WBFJA) held on Sunday. Sen, a celebrated figure in Indian cinema, was recognized for her significant contributions to the industry, particularly in the realm of Bengali cinema.
During her acceptance speech, Sen expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the honor, while also acknowledging the work of contemporary filmmakers who continue to uphold and advance the legacy of Bengali cinema. “I am deeply thankful to the organisers for this recognition. I hold great respect for the talented filmmakers of today, like Srijit Mukherji, Atanu Ghosh, and many others. Together, let us ensure that the rich legacy of Bengali cinema is carried forward,” she said.
In addition to Sen’s recognition, the ceremony also honored outstanding films and individuals in various categories. The coveted Best Film award was presented to Manikbabur Megh, a notable Bengali film that captured the hearts of audiences and critics alike for its compelling narrative and direction.
The WBFJA awards serve as an important platform to celebrate and acknowledge the talent and achievements within the Bengali film industry, recognizing the efforts of both established and emerging filmmakers.
