Veteran actor Jackie Shroff recently opened up about the disappointing box office performance of Baby John, a film in which he portrayed the antagonist. Despite the film’s commercial failure, Shroff expressed more concern for the producers than for himself, acknowledging the impact of such setbacks on those who invest in films.

In a candid conversation with India Today, Shroff shared his thoughts on the ramifications of a film not performing well. “The producers get affected the most. They put in a lot of money, trusting the project, and when it doesn’t pay off, it’s disheartening,” said the actor. While he admitted that actors like to see their work appreciated by audiences, he emphasized the importance of the film’s financial success for the producers.

When asked if the failure of Baby John bothered him personally, Shroff was quick to dismiss it. “I feel bad, but not for myself; it’s for the producers. You do your job with sincerity, but you also feel for those who have invested their money in the project,” he explained.

Baby John, directed by Atlee and starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi, was a remake of the hit film Theri and had a substantial budget of over ₹180 crore. Unfortunately, the film grossed only ₹60.4 crore worldwide, with ₹39.34 crore coming from the Indian market, making it a financial disappointment.

Shroff is now looking forward to his next project, Baap, which is set to feature an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, and Sunny Deol. Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is preparing for his upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, slated for release in 2025.
