NEW DELHI: In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have declared their support for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This strategic alliance aims to consolidate opposition forces against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
TMC’s General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, articulated the rationale behind this collaboration, stating, “Why should we help BJP?” He emphasized the necessity for opposition unity to effectively counter the BJP’s influence in Delhi. Banerjee further remarked, “Supporting AAP is a step towards strengthening the opposition’s position and ensuring a democratic balance.”
SP President Akhilesh Yadav echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts among opposition parties. “In the current political scenario, it is imperative for like-minded parties to come together to uphold democratic values and provide a viable alternative to the electorate,” Yadav stated.
