Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Mumbai, hosted a luncheon with the MLAs of the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition on Wednesday. The meeting, held at the INS Angre Auditorium, celebrated the alliance’s remarkable victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections held in November last year, where the Mahayuti coalition secured 230 out of 288 seats.

The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with other MLAs from the BJP, NCP, Shiv Sena, and smaller allies.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi commissioned three naval combatants—INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer—at the Naval Dockyard, marking a significant boost to India’s self-reliant defense capabilities. Speaking on the occasion, Modi emphasized India’s evolving global role and economic strength.

“India is advancing rapidly toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy. This growth necessitates robust port-led development, which will drive economic progress and create vast employment opportunities,” Modi stated. He also highlighted the Navy’s role as the “first responder” in the Indian Ocean region, noting its recent life-saving missions and contributions to global security.

In addition to the luncheon and defense commissioning, PM Modi is set to inaugurate the ISKCON temple in Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar area. Spanning nine acres, the temple features Vedic education centers, proposed museums, a healing center, and an auditorium. The project symbolizes Modi’s vision of promoting Indian culture and fostering universal harmony, as noted in a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office.
