Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan sustained injuries during an attempted burglary at his Bandra (West) residence in Mumbai. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when an intruder entered the 11th-floor apartment shared by Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Incident Details
Khan, 54, awoke to unusual sounds and confronted the intruder, leading to a physical altercation. During the scuffle, the assailant attacked Khan with a sharp object, resulting in six stab wounds, including one near his spine and another on his left wrist. A female domestic staff member also sustained injuries during the incident. The intruder fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Medical Treatment
Following the attack, Khan’s elder son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and a caretaker transported him to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra Reclamation around 3 a.m. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, reported that Khan had six incised wounds caused by a sharp object. Neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange led the surgical team to treat the injuries, particularly focusing on the deep wound near the spinal cord, which contained a foreign object, and the left wrist injury requiring plastic surgery. As of 10 a.m., Khan was out of surgery and in stable condition, with doctors monitoring his recovery.
Police Investigation
The Bandra police, along with the Mumbai crime branch, have launched an investigation into the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone X) Dikshit Gedam confirmed that an unidentified person intruded into Khan’s residence, leading to a scuffle that resulted in the actor’s injuries. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to determine how the intruder bypassed security measures and accessed the apartment. Three individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the case.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and other family members were present in the apartment during the incident but were unharmed. In an official statement, the family requested privacy and patience from the media and fans, emphasizing that the matter is under police investigation. They also assured the public that Khan is recovering and that all family members are safe.
