NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This event has emerged as the second-largest automotive expo globally, showcasing the entire auto value chain—from automobiles to auto-related components—under a single umbrella.

During the inauguration, PM Modi paid heartfelt tributes to two stalwarts of the Indian automotive sector: Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki. He acknowledged their immense contributions in shaping India’s auto industry and fulfilling the aspirations of the middle class. “I have faith that the legacy of Ratan Tata Ji and Osamu Suzuki will continue to inspire the entire mobility sector of India,” PM Modi remarked.

Expo Highlights and Industry Growth
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 has attracted over 34 manufacturers and more than 1,500 exhibitors, featuring numerous product launches and showcases. Notable unveilings include:
- Suzuki Motorcycles India: Introduced the new Access scooter, the e-Access electric scooter, and the Gixxer SF20 Flex Fuel motorcycle.
- Hyundai: Showcased the premium MPV, Staria, and launched the Creta Electric SUV, available with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery options, offering ranges of 390 km and 473 km, respectively.
- Maruti Suzuki: Unveiled the e-Vitara, the company’s first electric vehicle for the Indian market.
The expo underscores India’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector, with a strong emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs) and green technologies. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, highlighted that the expo is showcasing India’s story to the world and emphasized the importance of encouraging first-time auto buyers to consider EVs.
Legacy of Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki
Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Sons, is renowned for his visionary leadership and commitment to quality, steering Tata Motors to new heights. Osamu Suzuki, who passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 94, played a pivotal role in transforming Suzuki Motor Corporation and was instrumental in establishing Maruti Suzuki in India, making mobility accessible to the Indian middle class.
