Eknath Shinde’s Political Future in Question Amid Speculation of Leadership Change in Shiv Sena

Wadettiwar stated, "Eknath Shinde's situation is very bad in the current political scenario"

Breaking News

Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has suggested that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s political standing is precarious, hinting at a potential leadership shift within the Shiv Sena. Wadettiwar’s remarks come amid reports of Shinde’s dissatisfaction over recent appointments of guardian ministers by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Addressing the media in Nagpur, Wadettiwar stated, “Eknath Shinde’s situation is very bad in the current political scenario. It seems Shinde may be sidelined. I wonder if Shinde’s political utility is over. Shindeji was brought in by pushing out Uddhav ji (Thackeray).”

The Congress leader’s comments allude to the possibility of a new “Uday” (rise) in the Shiv Sena, referencing state minister Uday Samant. This speculation gains traction as Shinde has reportedly traveled to his native village in Satara district for a personal visit.

In response to these developments, Uday Samant has asserted that several leaders from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction are in contact with Eknath Shinde and may soon join the Shiv Sena.

Eknath Shinde, who led a significant rebellion within the Shiv Sena in 2022, served as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister from June 2022 until November 2024. Following the 2024 elections, he assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The current political dynamics within Maharashtra’s government suggest potential shifts in leadership roles, with Uday Samant emerging as a possible successor should Eknath Shinde be sidelined. As the situation develops, the state’s political landscape remains in a state of flux.
