MAHAKUMBH NAGAR (UP): Organizers will screen the Hindi version of the Indo-Japanese animated film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Ram at this year’s Maha Kumbh on Wednesday, marking a unique cultural addition to the religious event.
The Uttar Pradesh government has confirmed that the special screening will take place at 10 a.m. at the Divya Prem Seva Camp, Sector 6, located near Netra Kumbh.
Uttar Pradesh’s Social Welfare Minister, Aseem Arun, will attend the event as the chief guest. His presence highlights the importance of this screening, which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced as part of a series of new features for this year’s Maha Kumbh.
The screening of Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Ram marks a groundbreaking moment for the Maha Kumbh, as it will be the first time the religious congregation shows an animated film. This animated adaptation of the iconic Hindu epic Ramayana has gained significant acclaim since its release, known for its visually stunning animation and faithful portrayal of the ancient tale of Prince Ram, his battle against the demon king Ravana, and his quest to rescue his wife, Sita.
The inclusion of this film in the spiritual setting of the Maha Kumbh offers a novel way for devotees and visitors to experience the timeless story of the Ramayana. The film’s rich cultural and spiritual significance makes it a fitting feature at a gathering where millions of people converge to partake in religious rituals and cultural events.
The initiative is in line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s broader efforts to enhance the cultural experience at the Maha Kumbh. These efforts aim to attract a wide range of audiences, including younger generations, who may connect with the ancient epic through modern media formats such as animated films. Consequently, they seek to bridge the gap between tradition and contemporary entertainment, thereby making the epic more accessible and engaging for today’s viewers.
The screening is expected to enrich the spiritual atmosphere of the Kumbh and allow participants to reflect on the values and teachings of the Ramayana through a medium that resonates with contemporary audiences. With the increasing popularity of animated films across the globe, this initiative also highlights the importance of preserving cultural traditions while making them accessible and engaging to people of all ages.
As the Maha Kumbh continues to attract millions of visitors, events like these serve to blend religious devotion with modern entertainment, ensuring that the cultural heritage of India remains relevant in today’s rapidly changing world.
The screening of Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Ram will create a memorable moment at this year’s Maha Kumbh, offering a unique opportunity for attendees to experience one of the most revered stories in Indian mythology in a fresh and dynamic way.
This innovative addition to the Kumbh festivities reflects the evolving nature of India’s cultural landscape, where age-old traditions meet the future in exciting new ways.
