Ahead of Republic Day 2025, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for the full dress rehearsals of the Republic Day parade, scheduled on January 23. Restrictions will also be in place on January 22 and January 25 to ensure smooth proceedings and enhanced security in the national capital.

Key Traffic Restrictions on January 23

The Republic Day parade rehearsal route will cover:
Vijay Chowk > Kartavya Path > C-Hexagon > Netaji Subhash Marg > Red Fort.

  • Prohibited Routes:
    • No traffic movement from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm on January 22 until the parade concludes.
    • Cross traffic at Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road will be blocked from 11 pm on January 22.
    • C-Hexagon will be closed from 9:15 am until the parade crosses Tilak Marg.
    • No traffic on Tilak Marg, BSZ Marg, and Subhash Marg in both directions from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
  • Entry Ban for Goods Vehicles:
    Entry of heavy goods vehicles (HGV), medium goods vehicles (MGV), and light goods vehicles (LGV) will be prohibited at Delhi borders from 9 pm on January 22 until the parade rehearsal concludes. Essential services will remain exempt.

  • North-South Corridor:
    • Ring Road: Ashram Chowk > Sarai Kale Khan > IP Flyover > Rajghat > Ring Road.
    • Aurobindo Marg: AIIMS Chowk > Dhaula Kuan > Vande Mataram Marg > Shankar Road.
  • East-West Corridor:
    • Ring Road > Bhairon Road > Mathura Road > Lodhi Road > Aurobindo Road > Dhaula Kuan.

Traffic police anticipate heavy congestion, with 250 buses and 1,000 light vehicles expected to arrive for the event.

Additional Security Measures

In light of Republic Day, Delhi Police has implemented a ban on sub-conventional aerial platforms like drones, paragliders, and unmanned aircraft systems until February 1. Violations will attract penalties under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
