MUMBAI: In a significant political development, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut announced that Maharashtra will soon appoint a third Deputy Chief Minister from the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde. This statement has intensified the state’s political landscape, already marked by factionalism within the Shiv Sena.
Addressing the media, Raut stated, “Maharashtra will get a third deputy CM soon. It will be someone from among them (Shiv Sena-Shinde).” This assertion suggests an impending expansion of the state’s executive leadership, which currently includes Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
Raut also criticized members of the Shinde faction, alleging that they defected due to pressure from central investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He remarked, “These people ran away in fear of the ED and CBI.”
As of now, there has been no official response from the Shinde faction regarding Raut’s claims. The potential appointment of a third Deputy Chief Minister underscores the evolving political dynamics in Maharashtra, reflecting the ongoing power struggles and realignments within the state’s political framework.
