The Supreme Court of India has directed the submission of a forensic report concerning audio recordings that purportedly feature Manipur Chief Minister N. The Kuki Organization for Human Rights Trust filed a writ petition alleging that Chief Minister Biren Singh was recorded during a private meeting, where he purportedly incited ethnic tensions. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the petitioner, asserted that “Truth Labs,” a forensic laboratory, had verified the voice in the recordings as that of Singh. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the government, contended that the petitioner should have initially approached the High Court.
