Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: Voting Progresses with 35% Turnout by 1 PM

Over 1.55 crore voters are casting their ballots across 70 constituencies.

NEW DELHI: As of 1:00 PM today, the Delhi Assembly elections have recorded a voter turnout of approximately 35%. Polling began at 7:00 AM and will continue until 6:00 PM across 13,766 stations, where 699 candidates are contesting for 70 assembly seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, is seeking a third consecutive term, emphasizing its governance record and welfare initiatives. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party are both aiming to gain ground in the capital’s political landscape.

Notable early voters include AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who cast their votes in the morning hours.

The Election Commission scheduled the polls on a weekday to encourage higher voter participation, noting that weekend elections often coincide with short getaways for urban, upper-middle-class residents.

The votes are set to be counted on February 8, with results expected the same day.
