In a heart-wrenching incident, three teenagers from Bihar’s Kishanganj district lost their lives in a road accident just days before their scheduled CBSE board examinations. The mishap occurred in the early hours of Wednesday near the Bir Kunwar Singh Bus Stop on NH-27, under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station.
The victims, aged between 17 and 18, were riding a motorcycle when they lost control, causing the bike to collide with a road divider. Subsequently, the motorcycle struck an oncoming truck, leading to the immediate death of all three riders. Authorities have identified the deceased as students who were set to appear for their Class 10 and 12 CBSE board exams.
Upon receiving information about the accident, local police promptly arrived at the scene and transported the victims to a nearby hospital. However, medical professionals declared them dead on arrival.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gautam Kumar commented on the incident, stating, “Overspeeding and triple-riding led to the mishap. Such accidents can be prevented only with the support of parents and guardians.” He emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and the role of guardians in educating young riders about road safety.
This tragic event underscores the critical need for road safety awareness among young individuals. Parents and guardians play a pivotal role in instilling responsible riding habits and ensuring compliance with traffic laws. The loss of these young lives serves as a somber reminder of the potential consequences of negligent driving practices.
In the aftermath of the accident, the local community has been left in mourning. Educational institutions in the area are also grappling with the sudden loss of their students. Counseling sessions are being organized to support grieving classmates and teachers during this difficult time.
Authorities urge all motorists, especially young riders, to exercise caution on the roads. Adhering to speed limits, wearing helmets, and avoiding practices like triple-riding are essential steps to prevent such tragedies. Community leaders and law enforcement agencies are also considering initiatives to enhance road safety education and enforce traffic regulations more stringently.
As the families of the deceased cope with this unimaginable loss, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of responsible behavior on the roads. The collective responsibility of individuals, families, and authorities is paramount in ensuring that such incidents are prevented in the future.
