AAP’s Sanjay Singh Dismisses Exit Polls Predicting BJP Victory in Delhi Elections

AAP MP Sanjay Singh rejects exit poll predictions favoring BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections, urging the public to await official results on February 8.

Breaking News

In the aftermath of the recent Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh has openly challenged the credibility of exit polls that forecast a win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh emphasized the importance of awaiting the official results, scheduled for release on February 8, before drawing any conclusions.

Addressing the media, Singh remarked, “If companies that give massages and run spas conduct exit polls, then you know what will be the condition of exit polls. I would only request everyone to wait till February 8.” He expressed confidence in the AAP’s performance, stating, “AAP is going to form the government in Delhi with a massive majority. The people agree with issues raised by us.”

The exit polls in question have largely indicated a favorable outcome for the BJP. For instance, the Matrize exit poll predicts the BJP securing between 35 to 40 seats, while projecting 32 to 37 seats for the AAP. Similarly, the People’s Pulse exit poll suggests a more decisive victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), estimating 51 to 60 seats, with the AAP trailing at 10 to 19 seats. The Congress party, according to these polls, is anticipated to secure minimal representation, with projections ranging from zero to two seats.

This isn’t the first time Singh has voiced skepticism regarding exit polls. In June 2024, he called for a complete ban on exit polls, arguing that they have been proven wrong multiple times and lack accountability. He stated, “Exit polls should be completely banned in the country since they have been proven wrong not once but many times.” Singh further contended that such polls could unduly influence public perception and the electoral process.

The AAP’s leadership has consistently questioned the reliability of exit polls. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a previous instance, dismissed exit polls predicting a third consecutive term for the BJP-led NDA as “fake.” He asserted, “Yesterday, exit polls were out and I can give you in writing that they are fake.”

As the political climate remains charged, the AAP continues to express confidence in its governance record and the support of Delhi’s residents. The party believes that its focus on issues such as education, healthcare, and public welfare will resonate with voters, leading to a favorable outcome once the official results are declared.

On the other hand, the BJP has campaigned vigorously, highlighting national security, economic development, and infrastructural improvements as key achievements under its leadership. The party aims to capitalize on these themes to sway voters in the national capital.

The contrasting narratives and the dismissal of exit poll predictions by AAP leaders underscore the dynamic and often unpredictable nature of electoral politics in India. As both parties await the official results, the political discourse remains vibrant, reflecting the diverse perspectives within the country’s democratic framework.

In conclusion, while exit polls provide a snapshot of potential electoral outcomes, they are not definitive. The true mandate of the people will become clear only when the official results are announced on February 8. Until then, parties and citizens alike are advised to approach exit poll data with caution and await the final count.
