Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravikumar continues to lead at the box office, despite a drop in its day-two collections. The musical parody action film, which opened to mixed-to-negative reviews, managed to surpass Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s Loveyapa in terms of box office earnings, even though it experienced a decline in its second-day performance.
On its opening day, Badass Ravikumar had a strong start, collecting Rs.2.75 crore, outshining Loveyapa, which grossed Rs.1.15 crore. However, as the weekend progressed, the film saw a dip in its earnings. Early estimates from Sacnilk suggest that Badass Ravikumar earned Rs.1.99 crore on its second day, bringing its total collection to Rs.4.74 crore.
Despite the drop, Badass Ravikumar still held a clear edge over Loveyapa, which only garnered Rs.1.16 crore on its second day, increasing its total to Rs.2.31 crore. The occupancy rate for Badass Ravikumar was relatively low, with 9.38% overall, including 6.74% in the morning shows and 12.01% in the afternoon.
Directed by Keith Gomes, Badass Ravikumar is a musical parody action film that features Himesh Reshammiya in the titular role. The movie also stars Prabhu Deva, Kirti Kulhari, Simona J, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sanjay Mishra, and Johnny Lever in supporting roles. Although the film opened to mixed reviews, with Hindustan Times describing it as an “assault on our senses” and an “atrocity,” Himesh Reshammiya has made it clear from the start that “logic is optional” in this action-packed, over-the-top movie.
The film’s exaggerated, illogical plot has drawn criticism, but its humorous and chaotic approach seems to have found some level of audience engagement. Himesh Reshammiya’s bold and offbeat style has attracted its fair share of attention, even though it may not have won over critics. The film’s reliance on parody, action, and musical elements, combined with its campy execution, creates an experience that’s more about entertainment than logic.
In contrast, Loveyapa, which is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Love Today, has faced a tougher time at the box office. Despite receiving a positive reception for its fresh, youthful storyline, the romantic drama has struggled to keep up with the success of Badass Ravikumar.
As the weekend progresses, it will be interesting to see if Badass Ravikumar can maintain its lead, or if Loveyapa will pick up momentum in the coming days. For now, Himesh Reshammiya’s film is ahead in the race, and its quirky, unpredictable nature continues to attract attention.
