IED Blast Along LoC in Akhnoor Sector Claims Lives of Two Soldiers, Including Captain

Breaking News

Two soldiers, including an Army captain, were killed and another seriously injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector on February 11, 2025. The blast occurred during a routine patrol near the fence in the Laleali area of the sector, suspected to have been orchestrated by Pakistani terrorists.

The White Knight Corps, based in Jammu, confirmed the fatalities and paid tribute to the fallen soldiers. The statement, posted on social media, read, “Suspected Improvised Explosive Device blast reported in Laleali, Akhnoor Sector during a fence patrol, resulting in two fatalities. Our troops have dominated the area, and search operations are underway. We salute and pay tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers.”

Security officials suspect that the attack was carried out by terrorists across the border, a tactic that has been employed in the past by militants from Pakistan. These terrorists often plant IEDs along the LoC to inflict casualties on Indian military and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.

This deadly blast follows closely on the heels of a visit by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, to the Rajouri district on February 10, where he reviewed security measures and discussed hostile activities along the LoC. The visit came after an Army patrol in Rajouri came under fire from suspected militants hiding in nearby forests.

Intelligence reports suggest that there are nearly 100 terrorists in the launch pads along the LoC, posing a continuous threat to Indian security forces in the region. The presence of these militants further heightens the risk of cross-border infiltration and terrorist activity in Jammu and Kashmir.

The IED attack has raised concerns about the increasing frequency of such blasts in the region. Indian forces continue to carry out extensive operations in the area to neutralize any remaining threats and prevent further incidents. The injured soldier has been reported to be in stable condition, and investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators behind the attack.

Indian security forces continue to face the persistent threat of cross-border terrorism, which poses significant challenges to maintaining peace along the LoC. Despite these challenges, the Indian Army remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the region, with a focus on safeguarding both its personnel and civilians.

The loss of these two soldiers serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring their sacrifice and dedication in the ongoing battle against terrorism.
