Breaking News

The controversy surrounding the YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’ has intensified as the Assam Police issue fresh summons to prominent content creators. The show, hosted by comedian Samay Raina, featured a panel including podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, content creator Apoorva Makhija, and comedian Jaspreet Singh. Their remarks during the episode have led to allegations of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions.

On February 10, 2025, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Guwahati Police registered an FIR against these individuals. The FIR cites sections related to insulting a woman’s modesty, engaging in sexually explicit acts, and distributing obscene materials under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

Following the FIR, a team from the Assam Police traveled to Mumbai to further investigate the matter. They visited Mumbai’s Khar police station and met with senior officials to coordinate the inquiry.

In response to the backlash, Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging his lack of judgment during the show. He expressed regret for any offense caused by his remarks.

Host Samay Raina also took action by removing all episodes of ‘India’s Got Latent’ from his YouTube channel. He stated that his primary aim was to entertain and that the recent events had been overwhelming. Raina assured full cooperation with investigative agencies to ensure a fair inquiry.

The controversy has sparked widespread discussions about the boundaries of content creation and the responsibilities of influencers. Legal experts note that this case could set a precedent for how online content is regulated in India.

As the investigation progresses, the summoned individuals are expected to appear before the authorities for questioning. The outcome of this case may have significant implications for content creators and the digital media landscape in India.

This incident underscores the importance of mindful content creation and the potential legal consequences of crossing established boundaries. It serves as a reminder for influencers to consider the impact of their content on diverse audiences and adhere to community guidelines and legal standards.
