YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has announced that he will no longer be hosting a special screening of Captain America: Brave New World in Mumbai on Valentine’s Day. The decision comes in the wake of legal issues surrounding Chanchlani and other guests from the popular YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
Chanchlani took to Instagram to inform his followers that he would be stepping back from the event due to health reasons. He wrote, “Hello doston, I am not keeping well, so unfortunately I won’t be able to attend and host the screening of the film ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ on Valentine’s Day. But, don’t worry, those who are selected can still go and enjoy the show. I know I am gonna miss y’all so much! Love you 3000.”
Although Chanchlani did not directly reference his legal troubles, his decision to step down comes amid controversy involving him, fellow YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), and comedian Samay Raina. The group faces charges of obscenity after a joke made by Allahbadia on India’s Got Latent about incest, which sparked outrage among viewers.
Following the incident, the Mumbai police have reportedly recorded statements from Chanchlani, Allahbadia, Raina, and other guests who were present during the episode. The Assam Police have also issued fresh summons to the group based on a complaint alleging they were promoting obscene content.
In response to the backlash, Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging that his comment was a lapse in judgment. He emphasized that family values are important to him and expressed regret for disrespecting them. Samay Raina also addressed the controversy, stating that he had removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube and vowed to cooperate fully with the investigation.
Chanchlani’s withdrawal from the Captain America screening event adds to the growing list of challenges faced by the influencers involved in the controversy.
