New Delhi: In a historic ceremony at Ramlila Maidan today, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta oath ceremony took place, marking the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) return to power in the capital after 27 years. The event was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, and other prominent leaders. Gupta, a first-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Shalimar Bagh, becomes the fourth woman to hold the Chief Minister’s office in Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the gathering, congratulated the new cabinet and expressed confidence in their ability to fulfill the aspirations of Delhi’s residents. He remarked, “The people of Delhi have entrusted this team with a mandate for change. I am confident that under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, the city will witness unprecedented growth and development.”
The BJP’s victory in the recent elections, securing 47 out of 70 seats, signifies a significant political shift in Delhi, ending the AAP’s decade-long governance. The new administration faces the immediate challenge of addressing pressing urban issues, including pollution, traffic congestion, and public health concerns.
As the ceremony concluded, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her cabinet proceeded to Vasudev Ghat, where they performed a Yamuna Aarti, symbolizing their commitment to the river’s restoration. The first cabinet meeting is scheduled for later this evening, where the administration is expected to outline its 100-day action plan, focusing on immediate interventions in critical sectors.
The formation of this new government marks a pivotal moment in Delhi’s political landscape. With a blend of experienced leaders and fresh faces, the Rekha Gupta-led administration is poised to navigate the complexities of the capital’s governance, aiming to deliver on the promises made to its citizens.
