Namita Thapar is a prominent Indian entrepreneur, business executive, and angel investor. She is best known for her role as the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, a leading pharmaceutical company in India.
Thapar has also gained widespread recognition as a “Shark” on the popular Entrepreneurial business reality TV show Shark Tank India, where she has invested in over 100 companies across various sectors.
Namita Thapar was born on March 21, 1977. She is the daughter of businessman Satish Ramanlal Mehta.
Namita Thapar pursued her MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in 2001 and is also a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
After completing her MBA, Thapar worked as the Business Finance Head at Guidant Corporation in the United States.
She later returned to India and took on the role of CFO at Emcure Pharmaceuticals, eventually becoming the Executive Director of the company.
Namita Thapar began her professional career in the United States, working for six years at Guidant Corporation, a medical device company, as a Business Finance Lead in the Financial Planning Department.
After completing her tenure in the U.S., she returned to India and joined Emcure Pharmaceuticals as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Thapar has also been a part of Shark Tank India since its inception, appearing in seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4.
She is also the founder of the Thapar Entrepreneur Academy, which aims to foster entrepreneurial skills among young individuals.
