In the early hours of Friday, a fishing boat caught fire approximately 6 to 7 nautical miles off the Akshi coast near Alibaug in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The incident occurred between 3 and 4 AM, prompting a swift response from the Indian Coast Guard and Navy. All 14 fishermen aboard were rescued without injury.

The distress call originated from a trawler owned by Rakesh Gan. Upon receiving the alert, rescue teams from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and Raigad police coordinated efforts to reach the vessel promptly. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A video capturing the blaze has circulated widely on social media, depicting intense flames engulfing the boat. This incident underscores the inherent risks faced by the fishing community and highlights the importance of emergency preparedness and rapid response.
