Mumbai: In a surprising turn of events, prominent Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vishal Patil has resigned from the party, citing his growing dissatisfaction with Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership and what he described as Uddhav’s “inability to adapt to the changing political landscape.” Patil, who has been associated with the party for decades, walked out during a recent high-level meeting without granting Thackeray any room for discussion, claiming he wasn’t even given “ten minutes” to voice his concerns. His sudden departure has created a political stir within the Shiv Sena.

Patil had been eyeing the Sangli seat for the upcoming elections, a constituency traditionally dominated by Congress. However, with the Opposition INDIA alliance’s seat-sharing agreement, Shiv Sena (UBT) had fielded another candidate, which reportedly became the tipping point for Patil’s exit. His resignation is seen as a direct blow to the party’s plans for upcoming elections, particularly in the contested sugar-belt region.

Patil’s resignation has highlighted the growing factionalism and discontent within the MVA, particularly as various leaders struggle to maintain cohesion ahead of the elections. Political analysts suggest that this may weaken the bloc’s chances in critical constituencies like Sangli.
