New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and several dignitaries, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several major development projects worth over ₹1,550 crore under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The monumental event was not only a reflection of the Centre’s developmental push but also served as a platform to reaffirm India’s unwavering stance against terrorism, especially in light of the recently executed Operation Sindoor.
Development Projects for Ahmedabad
The event marked the inauguration of 31 projects and foundation stone laying for 60 others, representing a massive urban uplift. Notably, more than 1,070 families were allotted homes under three residential complexes, fulfilling their long-cherished dream of owning a house. Shri Shah also highlighted other major civic infrastructure developments, including:
-
The Pallav Overbridge, expected to ease traffic congestion for over 1.5 lakh daily commuters.
-
Construction of rainwater drainage systems, gutter lines, and water distribution centers across East and West Ahmedabad.
-
Inauguration of the Sabarmati-Chandkheda railway overbridge worth ₹237 crore.
-
Introduction of decorative lighting on the Sabarmati Riverfront at a cost of ₹131 crore.
-
Establishment of sports zones under flyovers with an investment of ₹38 crore.
-
Launch of housing projects under the PM Awas Yojana worth ₹38 crore.
-
Infrastructure additions like hydroelectric power stations, flyovers at Panchvati junction, and new water stations in Vatva, Nikol, and Vasna worth crores.
Additionally, the Khadi Village Industries Commission (KVIC) offered employment-oriented tools and kits to over 1,000 beneficiaries, including electronic potter’s wheels, sewing machines, leather toolkits, and incense stick-making machines. These initiatives are expected to significantly boost local employment and self-sufficiency.
Green Gandhinagar and Environmental Commitments
In his address, Shri Amit Shah emphasized the importance of environmental responsibility. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gesture of planting a tree in memory of his mother, Shri Shah urged every youth in Ahmedabad to plant a tree in their mother’s name and nurture it, linking this symbolic act to larger goals of sustainability. He noted that Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation aims to plant 40 lakh trees, which could help halve the impact of global warming in the city.
India’s Bold Military Response: Operation Sindoor
The event also became a stage to reflect on India’s evolving security doctrine. Shri Amit Shah underscored the boldness and clarity with which Prime Minister Modi responded to the recent Pahalgam terror attack. He explained how Operation Sindoor, a decisive cross-border operation, targeted and obliterated terrorist hideouts deep inside Pakistan—up to 100 km within their territory. The mission, executed with the synergy of the Indian Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and political leadership, was aimed at fulfilling the PM’s promise to retaliate firmly against terrorism.
Key highlights of the operation and subsequent statements included:
-
Elimination of multiple terrorist camps and the terrorist bases of Hafiz Saeed, Masood Azhar, and others.
-
Clear assertion that talks with Pakistan will only be held on the issue of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and terrorism.
-
Prime Minister Modi’s firm declaration: “Sindhu’s water and blood cannot flow together.”
-
Global exposure of Pakistan’s duplicity, especially after the presence of Pakistani army officials at the funerals of slain terrorists.
Shri Shah affirmed that Operation Sindoor has entered Indian history as a golden chapter, not just for its strategic depth but for the clarity it offered in India’s stand against state-sponsored terrorism. The campaign demonstrated India’s evolved policy—where terror and trade cannot coexist, and national security will not be compromised under any circumstances.
A New India by 2047: Vision and Legacy
Echoing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India the top global nation by 2047, Amit Shah remarked that the last 11 years under the Modi government have laid a strong foundation for national development, infrastructure growth, military modernization, and border security.
He hailed the BrahMos missile operations that decimated Pakistan’s airbases and reiterated the country’s determination to uproot terrorism from its roots. “Whenever the history of protecting India’s borders is written, Operation Sindoor will shine in golden letters,” he emphasized.
Conclusion
The day was not only a celebration of civic development but also a powerful expression of India’s resilience, resolve, and rising stature on the global stage. It was a reminder that in New India, development and security go hand in hand, and that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the country is not only building homes and bridges but also safeguarding sovereignty and dismantling terror networks with an iron hand.
