Breaking News

Kalyan, Maharashtra : In a major development for the LPG distribution sector in Maharashtra, Mahesh Tapase, a respected figure representing the Bharat Gas distribution centre in Kalyan (operational since 1980), has been appointed as the Executive President of the Maharashtra Bharat Gas Distributors Association.

Unanimous Support Across Maharashtra and National Leadership

The announcement came following a unanimous resolution proposed by Kailash Dudhani, President of the All India Bharat Gas Distributors Association, and Avinash Shinde, President of the Maharashtra chapter. Key office bearers from across the state, including Kishore Sodha, Atul Shah, Arun Vetekar, Usha Poonawalla, Saroj Ahire, Shirish Warange, and Padekar, lent their full support to the appointment.

A Vision Grounded in Service and Safety

Mahesh TapaseFollowing his appointment, Tapase outlined his key priorities—strengthening coordination among LPG distributors, enhancing consumer satisfaction, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

He acknowledged the critical role LPG distributors played during the COVID-19 lockdown, where uninterrupted supply was maintained despite operational hurdles and health risks. “Distributors stood at the frontlines during crisis—this resilience must now be matched with modernization and awareness,” he said.

Adapting to Change: Challenges and Opportunities

Tapase highlighted the dual challenge facing the industry today—while rural LPG expansion under schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) continues, urban areas are witnessing a decline in cylinder usage due to increasing adoption of piped natural gas (PNG).

“This transition is hitting the viability of many cylinder-based distributors. We must work with the government and oil companies to ensure a just and balanced energy future, Tapase said.

He also appreciated the contribution of Bharat Gas distributors under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, a state government scheme supporting clean cooking access for women beneficiaries.

Focus on Awareness, Compliance, and Consumer Safety by Mahesh Tapase

Tapase urged all LPG consumers to regularly update their KYC and registered mobile numbers, as oil companies now require OTP authentication at delivery. He reminded customers of key safety norms—changing rubber tubes every 5 years and scheduling periodic inspections by certified technicians.

Looking forward, he proposed organizing safety awareness camps, especially targeting women and senior citizens. “Empowering households with the know-how to detect and handle gas leaks is as important as timely delivery,” he emphasized.

Conclusion

Mahesh Tapase’s elevation marks a forward-looking chapter for LPG distribution in Maharashtra. Backed by grassroots experience and deep operational insight, he brings with him a vision of improved distributor coordination, customer-first service, and enhanced safety outreach—especially at a time when the industry must adapt to a changing energy landscape.
