New Delhi, July 28, 2025 — In a significant development for Rajasthan’s rural and agricultural sectors, Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi today. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening agricultural initiatives and expediting rural development programs across the state.
₹4,384 Crore Released Under MGNREGA
During the interaction, Shri Chouhan announced the release of ₹4,384 crore to Rajasthan under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the current financial year. This includes ₹3,286 crore earmarked for wages, ₹944 crore for materials, and ₹154 crore for administrative expenses. Chief Minister Sharma extended his appreciation for the Centre’s prompt financial support.
Push for Rural Housing through PMAY-Gramin
The progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) was a key point of discussion. Shri Chouhan praised the implementation efforts in Rajasthan and assured that the approval for additional housing units—post-survey verification—would be expedited. A total of 7.46 lakh rural homes are planned, including units under the PM-JANMAN scheme.
Agricultural Modernization and Water Management
The leaders reviewed schemes such as Per Drop More Crop under the PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, emphasizing the construction of water-harvesting ponds and fencing around farms. CM Sharma highlighted advancements in regions like Bassi (Jaipur) and proposed deploying agricultural supervisors at the Gram Panchayat level with central government cooperation.
Boosting Trade and Recognizing Local Produce
The discussion also included enhancing interstate trade, gaining official notification for Rajasthan’s high-quality peanut varieties, and promoting the state’s well-known castor oil. CM Sharma also noted the favorable monsoon performance and anticipated a strong agricultural yield in 2025.
