New Delhi, 6 August 2025 — In a significant step towards improving rural connectivity and uplifting tribal communities, the Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, sanctioned ₹375.71 crore for the construction of 100 bridges across Chhattisgarh under the PM Janman Yojana (Batch-II, 2025–26).
The sanction letter was formally handed over to Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma during a meeting in New Delhi. Senior officials from the Ministry of Rural Development were also present.
Major Infrastructure Boost for Remote Areas
According to the approval, 100 bridges covering a total span of 6,569.56 meters will be constructed across the state. This initiative is part of a broader development push, as Chhattisgarh has already received approval for 715 roads spanning 2,449.108 km and now 100 bridges under PM Janman.
Shri Chouhan emphasized that this initiative is focused on ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) living in remote and forested regions. He added that improved infrastructure will lead to enhanced socio-economic integration of these communities into the national mainstream.
“The government is fully committed to the welfare of PVTGs. This step aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’,” said Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Discussions on Broader Rural Development
During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed:
-
Alternative rice storage solutions in Chhattisgarh
-
Strengthening rural and panchayat-level infrastructure
-
New housing surveys under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin
-
Long-term rural development strategies
Shri Chouhan urged the state government to ensure quality execution and timely completion of the sanctioned infrastructure projects.
