New Delhi: Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav chaired the second meeting of the Society of the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, held in New Delhi on August 20, 2025. The meeting was attended by distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Premchand Bairwa, Deputy Chief Minister and Ayush Minister of Rajasthan, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, senior ministry officials, and members of the Society.


Vision for NIA Jaipur as a Global Ayurveda Centre of Excellence

Shri Jadhav articulated a clear vision to transform NIA Jaipur into a “Global Centre of Excellence” representing cutting-edge research, innovation, quality education, and leadership in public health leadership within Ayurveda. He described the meeting as a critical forum to define the Institute’s future trajectory, aligning with the growing international acceptance and expansion of traditional medicine systems.

He urged the NIA to not only pursue excellence but to inspire other Ayurvedic institutions nationwide and globally by setting benchmarks in research, education, and healthcare.




Historic Progress in the Ayush Sector under Prime Minister Modi

The Minister highlighted the notable progress of the Ayush sector under the strategic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, citing the establishment of the World Health Organization’s Global Centre for Traditional Medicine hosted in India as a landmark achievement reflecting global recognition of Indian knowledge systems.


Achievements and Impact of National Institute of Ayurveda

  • First Deemed University in the Ayush sector in India.

  • Treats over 4 lakh Outpatient Department (OPD) patients and more than 25,000 Inpatient Department (IPD) patients annually.

  • Conducts free healthcare camps in 12 districts under Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Specially Protected (SP) schemes.

  • Houses a GMP-certified pharmacy producing more than 100 Ayurvedic medicines.

  • Recipient of prestigious accreditations including NAAC ‘A’ GradeNABH, and NABL.

  • Hosts students from 15 countries pursuing Ayurvedic education.

  • Recently declared India’s Best Ayurvedic Institution by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).

  • Engaged in international collaborations and holds Guinness World Record achievements, enhancing its global stature.

Shri Jadhav emphasized the necessity of:

  • Globally benchmarked research initiatives.

  • Strengthening infrastructure.

He assured full government support through the Ministry of Ayush to assist NIA in upholding and elevating Ayurveda’s legacy and global pride.
