Mumbai: Abu Azmi, Samajwadi Party president in Maharashtra, criticized the Mahayuti government for diverting funds meant for public welfare.

Azmi alleged that Rs. 70,000 crore in corruption occurred under the current Mahayuti government, with more cases expected.

The Mahayuti alliance, comprising Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP, faces growing scrutiny as Maharashtra’s election day nears.

Azmi emphasized that the Mahayuti government misappropriated funds meant for infrastructure and development projects for personal gain. He believes this corruption has hindered Maharashtra’s growth.

Azmi, who will be contesting the Mankhurd Shivajinagar assembly seat, is up against prominent opponents: Shiv Sena’s Suresh Patil and Nawab Malik from the NCP. Despite this, Malik remains confident about his prospects, projecting a strong win for the NCP.

Meanwhile, political campaigns are heating up in Maharashtra, with the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance — consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SCP) — aiming to reclaim control from the Mahayuti coalition.

Ajit Pawar will face his nephew, Yugendra Pawar, in Baramati, setting the stage for a major family rivalry in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. This election has garnered significant attention, with both sides expecting a tight race for this key constituency.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place on November 20, and results will be declared on November 23. This election serves as a critical test for the ruling Mahayuti coalition and the opposition MVA alliance as both sides battle for influence in Maharashtra, one of India’s most politically significant states.
