New Delhi: INS Tamal, India’s newest stealth frigate, made a significant port call at Souda Bay, Greece on August 19, 2025, as part of its return journey to India following commissioning in Russia. The visit underscores India’s commitment to deepening bilateral naval cooperation and strengthening strategic ties with Greece.
Indo-Greek Naval Engagements and Professional Interaction
During the visit, INS Tamal’s crew and officers engaged in various professional and cultural activities designed to foster Indo-Greek bilateral relations:

Discussions with senior functionaries of the Hellenic Navy focused on operational best practices and shared maritime security interests.

Familiarisation tour of NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre at Souda Bay and walk-arounds of NATO and Hellenic Navy facilities.

The visit culminated in a passage exercise (PASSEX) upon departure, enabling both navies to enhance interoperability and exchange operational expertise.
