Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated Sardar Dham Girls Hostel Phase-2 in Ahmedabad via video conferencing from New Delhi. The state’s Chief Minister, Shri Bhupendra Patel, and other dignitaries attended the ceremony, celebrating the significant strides made by the Sardar Dham Trust in furthering girls’ education and professional development in Gujarat.
Hostel Facilities and Educational Empowerment
Sardar Dham Phase-2 Girls Hostel provides state-of-the-art living arrangements for meritorious girl students, offering accommodation for up to 3,000 women at an annual fee of just ₹1. The facility, built at a cost of approximately ₹200 crore, spans 12 stories across 10,000 square yards and 6,32,000 square feet, with over 400 rooms and 2 basements. The hostel features modern amenities such as a library, e-library, and reading rooms, all designed to promote academic excellence and career growth for young women, especially those preparing for competitive exams like UPSC, GPSC, Defence Services, and Judicial Services.
Impact on Community and Future Projects
Sardar Dham Trust’s initiative has already trained over 52,000 candidates, aiming to prepare 10,000 more for top competitive exams. Shri Amit Shah highlighted the Trust’s ability to mobilize substantial contributions from the Patidar community, stating this project exemplifies collective action toward social welfare. The Trust will continue its expansion with upcoming projects in Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, and Mehsana, including residential complexes, training institutes, and youth development programs.

The inauguration reflects the cumulative efforts initiated during Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Modi’s Gujarat model established a pragmatic foundation for comprehensive state development, covering rural, urban, tribal, and coastal areas.
