New Delhi: On 1 September 2025, the Department of Posts (DoP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ESRI India Technologies Private Limited, a leading provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) software and solutions. The signing took place at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in fortifying the DIGIPIN initiative—India’s digital address code system aimed at improving accuracy and accessibility of location services nationwide.
Leveraging Advanced GIS Technology for Robust DIGIPIN Implementation
Through this partnership, DoP gains access to ESRI India’s high-resolution imagery and street basemaps for integration into the DIGIPIN portal. Additionally, DIGIPIN will link with ESRI India’s Living Atlas portal, expanding accessibility to the GIS community and enhancing collaboration across sectors.
ESRI India will provide essential technical support, ensuring seamless integration of its cutting-edge mapping services with DoP’s digital infrastructure for DIGIPIN.
