New Delhi— Shri Manohar Lal, Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, inaugurated the “Angikaar 2025” campaign, a last-mile outreach effort under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0), at a grand event in New Delhi. The campaign aims to boost awareness, expedite application verification, and fast-track the completion of sanctioned houses across India.
Objectives and Scope of Angikaar 2025
Angikaar 2025 is designed to create widespread awareness about PMAY-U 2.0 in over 5,000 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) through door-to-door campaigns, community mobilisation, loan melas, camps, and cultural performances. The campaign prioritizes delivering benefits to the most vulnerable populations, supporting the government’s mission of ‘Housing for All’ with holistic socio-economic development and convergence of multiple welfare schemes.
Key elements include spreading knowledge about the Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing (CRGFTLIH), benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, and prioritizing beneficiaries identified under PMAY-U 2.0’s Special Focus Group.
Progress and Milestones
Since its launch, PMAY-U has sanctioned 120 lakh houses, delivering over 94 lakh pucca houses. PMAY-U 2.0, launched in September 2024, aims to support construction or purchase of pucca houses for an additional one crore urban families with financial aid up to ₹2.5 lakh.
Flagship Events: Urban 2.0
The campaign will feature “PMAY-U Awas Diwas” on 17 September 2025, commemorating the first anniversary of PMAY-U 2.0. The anchor event, “PM Awas Mela – Shehri,” will be held at district headquarters and municipal corporations in two phases: 17-27 September and 16-31 October 2025. These vibrant melas will showcase scheme benefits, promote convergence of government programs, and encourage active public participation.
Strategic Guidance and State-Level Implementation
Following the launch, Shri Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary & Mission Director of Housing for All (HFA), led high-level deliberations with State and UT officials to strategize effective campaign rollout and outreach techniques, ensuring last-mile delivery and maximum beneficiary engagement.
